NOTICE OF RACE

REGATTA SITE:

The racing site shall be Elizabeth Harbour, between the Exuma Sailing Club and Stocking Island. Launching at the Exuma Sailing Club beach cove. The official notice board and registration will be at the Splash restaurant at the Hideaways Hotel.

RULES:

The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing in the current Sunfish Class rules.
The following Prescription of BSA shall apply:

ELIGIBILITY:

Open to all paid members of the Sunfish class and any junior sailor who is a member of an active sailing club in The Bahamas.

QUALIFIER:

This regatta will be used by BSA as qualifier for future 2024 international Sunfish regattas.

EQUIPMENT:

Each participant is responsible to have his/her boat in proper order as per the current Sunfish Class Rules and to wear a life-jacket at all times except briefly while changing or adjusting clothing.

FORMAT OF THE REGATTA:

There shall be one Junior Fleet. Double handed boats shall be allowed. Juniors sailors shall be 19 and under at the start of the race. A double handed boat shall not be considered into future regattas’ qualification. The race committee will attempt to complete 7 races.

SCHEDULE:

Saturday, November 11th
8:00 - 8:30am Registration at Splash restaurant at Hideaways Hotel
8:30am – Skippers Meeting
10:00am – First Race Warning Signal
Race 2 to follow
Lunch on the water
Race 3 & 4 to follow


Sunday, November 12th
10:30am First Warning Signal
3 races (back to back)

Prizes Presentation at Splash restaurant at Hideaways Hotel. As soon as possible after the last race.

SCORING:

The low point scoring system of Appendix A will apply. A boat's worst race shall be discarded only if at minimum 6 races have been completed. Three races shall constitute a regatta.

COURSE:

Courses shall be Windward-Leeward or Olympic, as described in the Sailing Instructions, and shown in Exhibit A & Exhibit B below.

PRIZES:

Trophies will be awarded at the discretion of the Race Committee.

ENTRY:

Entry fee of $50 to be paid to ESC at the time of registration on Saturday, November 11th, 2023. International Sunfish Class dues for 2023 are due. The annual dues are $12.00 per person.

LIABILITY:

The Exuma Sailing Club, the International Sunfish Class Association and the Bahamas Sailing Association, Bahamas National Sailing School and their officers, members and volunteers do not accept liability for loss of life or property, or personal injury or damage caused by or arising out of the Bahamas Sunfish Jr. Nationals 2023 and competitors take part in the regatta entirely at their own risk. The establishment of the Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions in no way limits or reduces the complete and unlimited responsibility of a competitor for the management of the boat he or she is sailing. Personal accident/health and third-party liability insurances are the sole responsibility of each competitor.
