NOTICE OF RACE

REGATTA SITE:

The racing site shall be Elizabeth Harbour, between the Exuma Sailing Club and Stocking Island. Launching at the Exuma Sailing Club beach cove. The official notice board and registration will be at the Splash restaurant at the Hideaways Hotel.

1 RULES:

1.1 This regatta is governed by the rules as defined by the current ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS)
1.2 Sloop Racing Rules of Sailing will apply to E Class only 1.3 Exuma Sailing Club requires that all participants wear personal floatation devices at all times on the water during the entire length of the event.

2 FORMAT OF THE REGATTA:

2.1 There will be three eligible classes: Optimist, Sunfish, E Class Sloops.
2.2 Each class must have a minimum of three boats to be eligible for prizes.

3 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY:

This regatta will be used by BSA as qualifier for future 2024 international Sunfish regattas.

4 SCHEDULE:
Friday, October 27th
3:00pm - 1st & 2nd E Class Races

Saturday, October 28th
9:00am – Skippers Meeting at Sailing Club Cove (next to Augusta Bay Hotel)
10:00am – Warning Signal for the first races of the day- Optimist & Sunfish Classes
Second race to follow as soon as reasonably possible
12:00 noon - Lunch at Regatta Site (Included for sailors)
Optimist & Sunfish races 3 & 4 to follow as soon as reasonably possible
4:00pm - E Class Races 3 & 4

Sunday, October 29th
1:00pm - Warning Signal for final Optimist & Sunfish races
Second race to follow as soon as possible
Third race to follow as soon as possible
Boats return to ESC Cove
4:00pm - E Class Race 5 & 6

Awards presentation at Regatta Site as soon as practical after final race as soon as possible after the last race.

5 MEASUREMENTS:
There will be no measurements of Optis or Sunfish, sailors are expected to abide by the rules. E Class will sail under the current National Family Island Regatta Committee Junior measurements. Masts must be 20 feet (18’6” from the deck) and booms 12 feet for a boat to be eligible. E class sails available for boats not meeting the requirements to use.

6 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS:
Sailing Instructions will be posted at the Exuma Sailing Club Cove and Regatta Site in George Town.

7 VENUE:
7.1 The general race area will be Elizabeth Harbor in George Town in the vicinity of the Regatta Pavilion
7.2 The exact location of the courses may change based on the weather conditions at the time of the races and is at the discretion of the race chairman and his committee.

8 THE COURSE:

All classes will race on the same course although each class may have a different number of legs and/or laps to complete. E Class will sail after the completion of Optimist & Sunfish classes. The course will be explained at the skippers meeting and may be changed at any time by the race committee based on conditions at the time

9 PENALTY SYSTEM:

9.1 RRS 44.1 & 44.2 (one and two turn penalties) will be in effect for this regatta
9.2 A point addition penalty system will be used by E Class

10 SCORING:

10.1 A low scoring system will be used for all classes
10.2 Three races constitute a regatta. When fewer than 6 races have been completed, a boats series score will be the total of her race scores. When 6 or more races have been completed a boat’s series score will be the total of her races excluding her lowest score.

11 SAFETY:

It is the responsibility solely of the competitor or the parent(s) or the adult representative of the junior competitor whether to sail in the weather and sea conditions that might arise during the event. Parents not personally attending any part of the event must ensure that another adult is prepared to make these decisions for their sailor. The Sailing Instructions may impose additional safety requirements

12 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY:

12.1 The Exuma Sailing Club and its members, volunteers and officers do not accept liability for loss of life or property, or personal injury or damage caused by or arising out of The Exuma Sailing Club Regatta. Competitors take part in the regatta entirely at their own risk
12.2 The establishment of the Notice Of Race and Sailing Instructions in no way limits or reduces the complete and unlimited responsibility of the competitor for the management of the boat he or she is sailing
12.3 All competitors are required to sign a Hold Harmless Agreement

13 INSURANCE:

Personal health/accident and third party liability insurances are the sole responsibility of each competitor.

14 PRIZES:

Trophies shall be awarded for the top three boats in each class as well as other fun prizes.
